Obituary for Frances Thana Farmer (Fleming)

Frances Farmer passed away peacefully on July 2, 2015 at age 86. She was born September 18, 1928 in Greenville, MS to Dewitt and Thana Fleming.

She attended school in Greenville, Holly Springs, and Tupelo before her family settled in Cruger, MS where she finished high school. During her enrollment at Holmes Junior College, Frances was a majorette.

During World War II, Frances met the love of her life, Bobby Farmer. The two corresponded during his service in the U. S. Navy and married on June 25, 1948. The union lasted 65 years, until Bobby's death in 2013.

Most of her married life, Frances lived in Cruger, raising three children and making a home for her farm family. She was a strong, resilient, Christian woman who supported her husband and taught her children by example to develop an enduring work ethic and love for God. For many years, Frances and Bobby we're regular attendees at Cruger Baptist Church. Frances taught Sunday School and VBS, attended Bible studies, and was leader of church ministries for foreign missions. Because of her relentless appeals for support of the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering,
Cruger Baptist was an annual contributor. Bobby and Frances later became members of North Greenwood Baptist Church.

Frances Farmer fully enjoyed life and her family. She loved the Lord and inspired all who knew her to seek happiness and develop strength of character. She will be greatly missed.

Frances Farmer is survived by her brother James Flemming in North Carolina; children Frances Marie Farmer from Forney, TX; Dixie Leigh Roberson and husband Tom from Carollton; and Rob Farmer, Jr. and wife Melanie from Cruger.

Her grand children include: Tasha Long and husband Dustin of Greenwood; Jessica Bills and husband Jimbo of Madison; Katie Webb and husband Josh, Bo Farmer and wife Brittany, Karlee Farmer, and Brett Farmer, all from Cruger. Great grandchildren are Caden Long and Reece Bills.
