Obituary for Pauline Johnson (Tate)

Pauline Tate Johnson of West, MS passed away at 1:00 a.m., Monday, Sept. 04, 2017, in the Kosciusko, MS, home of longtime family friend Wanda Joiner, where she had been in home health and hospice care for the past eight months after breaking her hip and other health issues.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 06, 2017, at 3:30 p.m. in the West Methodist Church in West, MS, with visitation at the church beginning at 2:30. Burial will be in the West Cemetery with Southern Funeral Home of Lexington, MS, in charge.
Her brother, Rev. Jerry Tate, will officiate the service, assisted by the Rev. Ray Daniel. Her niece, Jean Johnson Aldridge, will serve as the pianist.
Sadie Pauline Tate was born on Jan. 09, 1924, to Watson A. and Lucile Ellington Tate in the Centerville community, west of West. On May 02, 1949, she married W.B. "Bruz" Johnson; and they were business owners in West and later in Durant until 2006, when he passed away and she retired.
She was a former longtime Baptist who was a member of the West Methodist Church at the time of her death, and was also a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a former West alderman.
In addition to her brother, caregiver, and niece, she is survived by nephews, Ronnie Johnson, of Pascagoula, and Derek Johnson, of Raymond.
