Obituary for Edmund Brister Edwards

Edmund Brister Edwards, a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ, entered into the arms of his savior on November 30, 2017. Born on May 6, 1947, to the late Charlie and Faye Edwards, Ed was a graduate of Holmes Community College and resided in West, MS. He was a loyal employee and worked for over 40 years as assistant track supervisor and track supervisor for Illinois Central and Norfolk Southern Railroads.
A faithful husband and loving father, Ed is survived by his beloved bride, Twyla, and his children Irene (Chris) Ishmael of West, and his sons George of Humboldt, TN and William (Becca) of Knoxville, TN. He was a doting grandfather to Seven, Dharma, Asher, Lotus, Lee, Noble, Brayden, Riley, and Benton. He is survived by his sisters, Nancy (Jim) Hynum and Charlene Gray, and sister-in-law Doris Edwards. He was preceded in death by his brother Tommy.
Ed proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam War and continued to honor his fellow Veterans through membership in, and numerous activities of, the VFW Post 1983. Ed served his community as a youth sports coach and mentor for over 20 years. He served as a member of the board of directors of Madison County, TN North Baseball, Carmack-Possumneck Water Association, and the Brister Cemetery. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Hesterville.
Ed counted it all joy to be a follower of Christ, and he took serious his responsibility to love his neighbor chiefly through ministry to children and widows. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church.
His life will be celebrated with services at Southern Funeral Home, Durant, MS on Saturday, December 2 at 2:30 pm. Burial will follow in Brister Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 2 at 12:30. Memorial donations may be made to Unity Baptist Church, West, MS.
