Obituary for Michael Glenn Patton

Michael Glenn Patton, 62, passed away on October 29, 2018 in Oxford, Mississippi after a long battle with cancer. He was born to Joe Dan and Elmease Billingslea Patton on October 24, 1956 in Lexington, Mississippi.
Glenn graduated from Central Holmes Academy and the University of Mississippi. During his career he worked at several jobs and finally at the Ole Miss Landscape Services. While there he was a proud team member that won the Most Beautiful Campus in America award in 2011. As a young man, Glenn was a talented athlete in baseball and golf. He won the Benton Country Club golf championship 3 years in a row-1974, 75 & 76.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents Joe Dan Patton and Elmease Billingslea Patton. Glenn is survived by his brother Joe Dan Patton, Jr of San Antonio, Texas, nephew Tyler Patton and wife Hannah Patton, niece Emma Patton of George West, Texas.
Glenn was a kind, gentle soul who made many friends wherever he worked or visited. Although he never married, he had a huge family of friends who will all miss him dearly. Glenn faithfully supported many charities including St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Special Olympics, and Wounded Warriors.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Southern Funeral Home, 100 Pine St., Lexington, MS 39095. As requested by Glenn, graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 2 PM at Concord Church Cemetery, 204 Old Highway 51, Pickens MS 39146. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
