Obituary for George W. Ellison III
George W. Ellison, III, 66, of Lexington, died at home on October 6, 2021. George was a graduate of Cruger-Tchula Academy and Holmes Community College. He was a member of Oregon Memorial Church. He was a long-term employee of Hughes & Stotts CPA and Central Building and retired from BankPlus. George was a much-loved son, brother, uncle, and friend.
Visitation will be at Southern Funeral Home on Monday, October 11 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Lexington, MS.
George was preceded in death by his parents Mary Astor and Sonny Ellison and brother-in-law Kirk Smithhart.
Survivors include sisters Anne Ellison and Lynne Smithhart of Madison; nephews Will Smithhart (Anna) and Kirk Smithhart (Erika); niece Kellie Proctor (Bobby); great-nieces Sophie, Adeline, & Dolly Smithhart; great-nephew Halen Smithhart; and best friend George Ellis.
The family would like to thank Doris Sanford and Dr. Charles Campbell for their excellent care for George during his recent illnesses.
