Obituary for Shirley Pigg (Weekly)
Shirley Weekly Pigg, 63, of Carthage MS, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, July 24, 2022.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lena Dureau Weekly and Aledia (Blue) Weekly, and her siblings Ray Wood Weekly, Aledia Weekly, Jr., Billy Weekly, Sr., Azelie Rodrique, and Stella Gill.
Shirley is survived by her son Edward Monk, Jr. (Adrienne) of Carthage MS, and daughter Krystal Ashley (Daniel) of Durant, MS, brothers George Weekly, Sr. of Hayes VA and Alfred Weekly Sr. of New Iberia LA. Shirley has 2 granddaughters Kaitlin Monk and Skylar Ashley.
Shirley was a kind and giving person who didn't pass an opportunity to help someone in need. She was the rock that anchored many people through the storms of life. Her joy and true happiness came from being a mother and grandmother.
Visitation and funeral services will be Wednesday, July 27, 2022. The visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. at Southern Funeral Home in Lexington MS. The graveside service will be at Mizpah Cemetery in Durant MS at 12:00 p.m.
Rev. David Cain will officiate the service and the pallbearers are Levi Tennyson, Sean Duncan, John Nash, Steven Allen, Leslie Woods, and Daniel Ashley.
Shirley's legacy of kindness will carry on for ages through the ones she encouraged and influenced.
