Obituary for Doylie "Dot" Spencer (Abel)

Doylie Abel Spencer, of Yazoo City, Mississippi, passed away on December 16, 2022 with her family at her side.

Doylie, affectionately know as "Dot" was born in Holmes County, Mississippi on March 16, 1933 to John A. and Evie Abel. Dot married Jack Spencer in 1953 and would have celebrated 70 years of marriage in January. Dot and Jack especially enjoyed traveling across the country and beyond. During the early years of their marriage, business and various jobs kept them on the move to numerous locations, but in 1968 the family settled in Yazoo City where they met many friends that they loved and admired.

Dot is preceded in death by her parents, John A. and Evie Abel, and daughter Becky Elaine Spencer. Dot is survived by her husband, Jack Spencer, daughter Deborah McGraw (Don), son Tim Spencer (Cyndi); grandchildren, Liz Cooley (Clay), Spencer McGraw (Lacey), Kassie Beckwith (B.W.) and Britton Spencer (AnnBri); great grandchildren, Lauren, Sarah Kate, Mary Beth, Will Keaton, Jack Wilder, and Lane; and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20 at Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 21 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 8349 Thornton Tolarsville Road, Lexington, Mississippi at 11:00 a.m.
