Roy Lee Austin, 63, of Lexington, Mississippi was called to his heavenly home on January 18, 2021 surrounded by his family and friends. Roy was born January 26, 1957 in Morgan City, Louisiana to Alton Roy Austin and Beverly Lee Austin and was the oldest of three children. Roy graduated from Morgan City High School as Valedictorian in 1975 and graduated from LSU in 1979. Roy was a devoted LSU fan. Roy started his accounting career in New Orleans, Louisiana at Arthur Anderson Accounting Firm. Roy retired from Entergy as a State and Local Tax Manager, CPA January 31, 2020. Roy loved doing genealogy research for his family and help others find their family genealogy. Roy was an avid reader, loved entertaining, traveling and cooking for a large crowd. Roy even became trained as a Girl Scout cook so he could go to his daughter, Ashley’s Girl Scout campouts. Roy and Cherie have always been so kind and generous to me and my family. They were some of the first people I met when I moved to Louisiana. They helped me feel at home as I got to join in for some LSU football with them. I'm thankful for his love for Jesus and the way he served the church so faithfully. We are praying for Cherie, Ashley, Carey and the whole family. God bless you and we love ya'll.

I met Roy in 2013 when work took me to Louisiana and we instantly became close friends. When I think of New Orleans and Slidell, I always think of the good times we had there. When I moved from Slidell back to Ocean Springs, MS, Roy was the one that helped me move. Roy also helped me remodel my new house and would even take days off from work to help even more.

Roy was beyond excited to retire in the country next to his close friends. There were a few humorous mishaps along the way. On one visit we were riding the back country roads after a heavy rain and we sunk the Honda Ridgeline deep in sand and mud. Being guys, we had to try and get the truck out before any phone calls were made. The only digging tool we had was an old lawn mower blade. We scraped sand and mud away from the tires for hours before finally making the dreaded phone call “Hey Jimmy, we’re stuck, can you come pull us out?”

Some of my best memories with Roy are helping him remodel the new house for the last several months. We worked hard and had a great time completing as many projects as we could. His excitement about the new house and land for him and Cherie kept us all going.

Roy touched my life in a huge way as he did with many others. He was always the first person I called when I needed help, advice, or anything else. He was truly a special person and friend and will be deeply missed.
